Nebraska For Us statement on the anniversary of Tax Cuts & Jobs Act

Six years ago today, the House passed the 2017 Tax Cuts & Jobs Act, a massive handout to big corporations and the wealthy that provided little benefit to working class Americans. The reason we call attention to this now is because there are new proposals in Congress to extend this next year once we move past two government shutdown threats.

“Instead of more fairness in taxation, this handout cut tax revenue and added further pressure on annual budget deficits—which threatens the long term viability of benefits like Social Security and Medicare that hundreds of thousands of Nebraskans have earned and count on.

“Nebraska For Us calls on our representatives, including Congressman Don Bacon, to vote against extending this tax scheme to benefit the ultra-wealthy rather than supporting working class and middle income Nebraskans.”
