New coalition aims to help eastern Nebraskans better understand federal economic policies
A new group will help those living in portions of eastern Nebraska learn about policies that affect their cost of living.
Nebraska For Us will serve residents across Douglas, Sarpy and Saunders Counties--and those in both urban and rural areas--to advocate for economic education. Communications Director Collin Adler Ruane said it can be difficult to understand some key economic issues, and Nebraska For Us aims to break down some of those barriers.
“We're really working to try and help simplify some of these discussions help to explain what's going on and look at a subject that will no doubt continue to be getting more attention moving forward, as it's something that seems like it's making news every day," Adler Ruane said.
The coalition is made up of workers, farmers, business owners and others who will work to raise Nebraskans' voices on issues relating to taxes, jobs, social security and Medicare.
“We're really focused on uplifting the voices of working class and middle-income Nebraskans," Adler Ruane said. "We're looking specifically at matters of economic policy and how different policies at the federal level that are either being enacted or being considered, are affecting people here at home."
On its website, Nebraska For Us hosts an online forum for residents of District 2 to share their stories.
In the coming months, the grassroots Nebraska For Us will host community events and focus on calling attention to federal legislation affecting the state’s economy.
