IN OUR COMMUNITY: Nebraska For Us closes out October with tax-focused events

Nebraska For Us remained busy throughout October, including two community events within the last week to close out the month—one at a Westside-area restaurant and the other at a Midtown barber shop.

On Friday, October 25, Nebraska For Us welcomed guests to Fernando’s for Tacos & Tax Talk for a complimentary lunch while answering questions about what we, as taxpayers, can expect from our lawmakers moving into the 2025 tax fight.

Then, on Tuesday, October 29, Nebraska For Us teamed up with Evoluxion Barber Shop and Casa de la Cultura, where we provided free haircuts while discussing how tax policies are affecting them in their everyday lives.

Nebraska For Us is calling attention to current tax policy that disproportionately benefits massive corporations over working families and small businesses thanks to the 2017 GOP Tax Law.

Major provisions of that law expire in 2025, which means Congress will be heavily focused on whether to enact sweeping changes to build a fairer tax code that brings in more tax revenue to support the middle class or extend the existing provisions that disproportionately benefit millionaires and billionaires. As a result, Nebraska For Us continues to hold events that meet members of the community where they are by having these discussions in community spaces.

Nebraska For Us focuses on federal economic issues in Congressional District 2 and across the state. As we move toward 2025, the debate over tax fairness will continue to ramp up ahead of the 2017 GOP Tax Law’s expiration.
