Nebraska For Us statement on final day of record Affordable Care Act open enrollment period

“After a busy two months, the open enrollment period for Affordable Care Act coverage ends today. For the first time, more than 20 million people have enrolled in health care plans using the ACA Health Insurance Marketplace. That record number includes nearly 113,000 Nebraskans and 106,000 Iowans.

“As Nebraska For Us focuses on issues in the state’s Second Congressional District, we encourage Congressman Don Bacon to protect the Affordable Care Act, especially as it stands at 60% approval among adults and protects vulnerable populations from being denied coverage for pre-existing conditions. He has repeatedly supported efforts to repeal or gut the landmark law in the past.

“With more than a decade of constant partisan attacks on an issue as important as this, it is our sincere hope that this additional option for health coverage remains available to working class and middle income Nebraskans who shouldn’t have to worry about the safety of this program in addition to the other challenges of everyday life.”
