Nebraska For Us statement on Bacon vote allowing Trump’s tariffs to continue unchecked

“Earlier this week, Congressman Don Bacon introduced a bill to rein in tariff authority. But today, he joined his House Republican colleagues in advancing a measure that will allow President Donald Trump to continue enacting reckless tariffs without Congressional approval.

“Just today—after leaving the economy reeling in the last week—the president made another chaotic decision, robbing everyday people and small business owners of the certainty they need to plan while keeping many cost-raising tariffs in place. The stability and security of the U.S. economy is not a reality show. It has very real-life implications for working class and middle income Nebraskans.

“Congressman Bacon should have taken a real stand against these tariffs rather than immediately folding. Small businesses are the backbone of our local economy and will be hit especially hard amid all this uncertainty. His vote will leave hardworking Nebraska families paying the price.”
