Nebraska For Us statement on bipartisan tariff legislation introduced by Bacon, fellow representatives
“Last week, Nebraska For Us called on Congressman Don Bacon to take legislative action against drastic and damaging tariffs introduced by President Donald Trump. While we are troubled by Congressman Bacon still expressing support for some of these reckless tariffs, we believe this new bill is a step in the right direction to rein in extreme and dangerous power that—left unchecked—is set to drive prices up, lead to layoffs, and push us into a recession.
“The rest of our House delegation—Reps. Mike Flood and Adrian Smith—must do their part to stand against economically harmful moves made by the Trump Administration in the last week. We encourage Senators Pete Ricketts and Deb Fischer to follow suit and protect working class and middle income Nebraskans from the painful consequences of widespread tariff tax increases.
“It is time for House Republican leadership to hold a vote on this bill as soon as possible to stop the damage caused by President Trump’s tariffs, which have already brought havoc and even more uncertainty to the U.S. economy. Congressman Bacon’s work here isn’t done—he should put the pressure on leadership to do the right thing, bring this bill to the floor, and rein in these dangerous tariffs!”
