Nebraska For Us statement on House vote to prevent partial government shutdown

“It is an unfortunately low bar, but we are pleased to see the House of Representatives move forward on funding the government in spite of efforts from Congressman Don Bacon and his colleagues to make harmful funding cuts—ending nearly six months of constant uncertainty.

“From protecting Social Security to enacting fairer tax policies and bringing health care costs down, we are hopeful the House will turn the page and move on to more meaningful and consequential work in the weeks and months ahead.

“As shutdown threats and funding fights have come to a close, it is time for Congressman Bacon and his colleagues to focus their energy on supporting policies that benefit working class and middle income Nebraskans, like President Biden’s recently-introduced budget that would continue to lower prescription drug costs for families, cut taxes for middle- and low-income Americans, and protect and strengthen programs like Social Security and Medicare. Let’s get back to work!”
