Nebraska For Us statement on House vote to prevent partial government shutdown

Below, you will find a statement from Nebraska For Us State Director Angie Lauritsen on today’s House vote to pass six out of 12 appropriations bills—averting a partial government shutdown ahead of the first funding deadline on March 8.

“Nebraska For Us is pleased to see the House move past this initial hurdle after months of uncertainty and delays, despite the fact that partially funding the government five months into the fiscal year is a low bar.

“The true test will come two weeks from now as Congress must pass funding for the Departments of Defense, Labor-HHS-Education, and Homeland Security by March 22. We urge Congressman Bacon and our other representatives to stand against harmful cuts extreme Republicans are using as a bargaining chip.

“It’s time for Congress to finally get back to work and support policies that benefit working class and middle income Nebraskans. We’ve had enough of the shutdown threats, funding fights, and logjams.”
