Nebraska For Us grants $2,500 to Omaha organization
OMAHA, Nebraska (December 20, 2024)—In the spirit of giving, Nebraska For Us has gifted a $2,500 grant to North Omaha Community Partnership—along with a donation of winter coats—as it prepares to hold its sold out Winter Wonderland coat and gift giveaway at North High School on Saturday, December 21.
“Every day, our organization seeks to rebuild, uplift, and empower members of our community who need it the most,” North Omaha Community Partnership Executive Director Tamika Mease said. “This generous grant from Nebraska For Us will allow us to continue that mission of providing services to people in crisis. From food pantries, diapers, cleaning supplies, and more, these funds will go directly toward helping metro families in need.”
Winter Wonderland caps off a busy year where North Omaha Community Partnership and other nonprofits across the metro have reported a growing need among the people they serve day in and day out.
“The dollars of working class and middle income Nebraskans aren’t going as far as they used to,” Nebraska For Us State Director Angie Laurtisen said. “Throughout 2024, we have seen the work of North Omaha Community Partnership make a meaningful difference in the lives of those it serves. Nebraska For Us is pleased to continue giving back to the community we call home.”
Nebraska For Us recognizes the growing need in our community as increased costs make it more difficult for working class and middle income families to afford necessities, like coats, for their growing kids, as well as gifts for loved ones during the holidays.
Nebraska For Us focuses on economic issues in Congressional District 2 and across the state, specifically policies that support working families—like addressing the cost of living—rather than helping the wealthiest Americans. As we move toward 2025, the debate over tax fairness will continue to ramp up ahead of the expiration of the 2017 GOP Tax Law—legislation that already disproportionately benefits the ultra-wealthy—and pledges to slice the corporate tax rate even further while Nebraskans suffer with the high cost of groceries, gas, and other necessities.
