Nebraska For Us statement on December inflation report
“Inflation has fallen dramatically in the last couple years, but it is clear working class and middle income Nebraskans are still working to catch their breath from the increases in prices of goods and services across the board.
“Trillions of dollars in tax cuts should not be prioritized for the ultra wealthy and big corporations. Instead, relief should be focused on those who are working paycheck to paycheck and will put the extra money in their pockets toward key living expenses. Extending or expanding the 2017 Republican tax law that disproportionately benefited the wealthy and corporations, while giving next to nothing to working families, is not a policy choice that prioritizes the working class. The rich are reaping the rewards and they are not trickling down to those who are just trying to pay rent and put food on the table.
“Congress will soon debate extending and expanding the 2017 GOP Tax Law, and now is the time to raise awareness on the need to create a fairer tax code rather than maintaining the skewed status quo. People need help, and there is a golden opportunity to do just that. Congressman Don Bacon and our entire federal delegation should focus on helping those who need it—not the rich and big corporations.”
