Nebraska For Us statement on government funding vote

“Nebraska For Us is deeply concerned about the harmful funding cuts that the House of Representatives, Congressman Don Bacon, and our state’s entire House delegation have approved today. In addition, our representatives voted to allow Trump's tariffs and trade war to continue unchecked by Congress, threatening to drive up already high prices for working American families and push the economy closer to a recession.

“According to some analyses, this funding bill would lead to cuts in food assistance and jeopardize care for our nation’s veterans, while also causing tens of thousands of evictions and allowing threats to Social Security to continue. People in our communities are living paycheck to paycheck and need all the help they can get, not less of it.

“This move comes at a time when lawmakers are considering extending or even expanding massive tax breaks geared toward the ultra-wealthy and big corporations. Congressman Don Bacon and our entire federal delegation must oppose efforts to cut programs that working Nebraskans rely on, raise prices via tariffs, and give more tax cuts to corporations and billionaires. Working class Nebraskans need their representatives to fight for them, not those at the top.”
