Nebraska For Us statement on House approval of cuts to Medicaid and SNAP

“Steep cuts to vital programs like Medicaid and SNAP are harmful and deeply unpopular. Millions of Americans would go without desperately needed nutritional assistance, while hundreds of thousands of Nebraskans would face uncertainty with their health care needs and expenses.

“Nebraska For Us is concerned after Congressman Don Bacon and our state’s entire House delegation voted in favor of this resolution. These drastic cuts could not come at a worse time for people who are just trying to put food on the table as their costs continue to rise.

“Our lawmakers need to stand up for our working class neighbors and friends, especially when there is so much economic uncertainty in the air. They should not be made to sacrifice their security and stability in order to pay for tax cuts for the ultra-wealthy and big corporations.”
