STATEMENT ON CORPORATE PRICE GOUGING AND INFLATION

“Month after month, Nebraskans have been loudly calling for policy solutions that address stubbornly high prices in grocery stores, even as the annualized rate of inflation heads toward a more manageable level—2.9% in the July CPI report.

“As we’ve seen with the Inflation Reduction Act’s Medicare drug price negotiation results announced on Thursday, steps are currently in action to address corporate greed and ensure savings are passed down to seniors, but there is more work to be done.

“Nebraska For Us calls on our district’s representative—Congressman Don Bacon—to support economic policies that lower costs for working class and middle income Nebraskans rather than disproportionately favoring the ultra wealthy and large corporations. Now is the time to seriously consider meaningful policies that help our neighbors and friends.”

-State Director Angie Lauritsen
